Baxter Freight achieve 20% growth despite Brexit challenges
Baxter Freight celebrate being named one of Nottingham’s ‘fastest growing companies’, according to Nottinghamshire Growth Report 2019 released by accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO LLP.
With Brexit looming, uncertainty is in the air, but that hasn’t stopped our ambition to continue to grow. Just last month we released news of our ‘Fast Forward’ expansion plan, aiming to reach £30m turnover produced by 120 staff by 2021.
With so many unanswered questions when it comes to European trade, businesses in the UK are of course worried about what will happen after the 31 October deadline set by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
We have been working closely with our customers to ascertain what they need to do to get ‘Brexit ready’ and to help them achieve this. In most cases that has involved helping them understand additional documentary requirements but in some cases we have worked with customers to establish distribution hubs on the continent.
In its report BDO says: “No matter how Brexit turns out, the chances are that UK businesses are going to need more expert help with moving their goods into and across the European Union. And Baxter Freight has the experts.”
Speaking to BDO, Chairman of Baxter Fright, Ian Baxter, comments, “We don’t want to be a business that makes money out of the damage being done.
“But if our customers need more help and if we can provide it within reason, then that also helps our own growth.”
The Nottinghamshire Growth Report is based on turnover among mid-sized businesses headquartered in Nottingham and saw Baxter Freight take 30th place with growth of 20%.
In the same report for 2018, Baxter Freight ranked as Nottingham’s fastest growing company, with a massive 306% total growth over two years. This was attributed to our low starting base as a new company, but it demonstrates our drive and ambition to grow from the very beginning.
